Ongoing Assistance Resources
This opportunity is open to doulas living in Los Angeles County who want to strengthen their billing systems, streamline operations, and expand access to Medi-Cal reimbursed doula services.
Doulas and doula organizations may qualify for additional legal support and resources to help navigate the professional and business aspects of their work. Get placed with free pro bono legal representation.
Helping Doulas master the "business of birth” through expert guidance on Medi-cal enrollment. PAVE applications, and billing dispute resolutions. Dedicated to removing administrative barriers so you can focus on the families you serve.

Get legal help! Public Counsel will respond to doula inquiries for legal assistance and when appropriate, offer qualifying doulas direct legal services or referrals tailored to their needs.

Strengthening Cultural Humility, Dismantling Implicit Bias in the Healthcare Setting
Implicit bias contributes to health disparities in marginalized communities. This 90-minute, on-demand training presented by Dr. Sayida Peprah-Wilson, focuses on building cultural conscientiousness, sensitivity, and humility. Participants will examine their own unconscious biases and gain practical tools to engage patients and clients in more open, respectful, and empathetic ways, improving communication, care, and outcomes. Living Trauma Aware for Perinatal Practitioners
This 75-minute course, presented by Dr. Sayida Peprah-Wilson, will focus on increasing the competence, sensitivity and humility of perinatal care providers, in an effort to promote the establishment of trauma-free and supportive perinatal care environments for all birthing people. Learn more >
Psychological Considerations for Supporting Pregnant and Postpartum Clients
This 75-minute course, presented by Dr. Sayida Peprah-Wilson, will focus on increasing the awareness of participants regarding perinatal/postpartum mood and anxiety disorders and practical skills to support pregnant and postpartum persons. Maternal suicide research findings and recommendations for providing care and support to individuals with elevated risks or presentation of mental health concerns will be offered.
