Course 2: Living Trauma Aware for Perinatal Practitioners

This 75-minute course, presented by Dr. Sayida Peprah-Wilson,  will focus on increasing the competence, sensitivity and humility of perinatal care providers, in an effort to promote the establishment of trauma-free and supportive perinatal care environments for all birthing people. Additionally, the course will focus on increasing provider’s ability to detect and assess for significant trauma coping deficits and/or strengths among diverse birthing communities, which impact perinatal wellbeing and emotional safety.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Utilize techniques to engage in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and humble ways with pregnant, birthing and postpartum individuals.

  • Define Simple, Complex and Historical Trauma.

  • Identify key situations to use trauma-informed communications at the bedside.
